Is this Normal?

So my sister in law has just had a baby boy and I’ve noticed that he has a lot of mucusy type substance come from his eyes

I was just wondering if it was a normal thing new horns go through, because this is something I’ve never noticed before.

Looks like a blocked tear duct.  They usually go away on their own.. warm washcloth to wipe it out. And massage in a downward direction along the nose

Like others commented it’s most likely a blocked tear duct which seems to be fairly common with babies.  It should clear up by 6 months if it doesn’t they can do s mine surgery to clear it up.   Breast milk in the eyes helps a lot but it’s messy.  And warm compress massage on his eyelids and tear ducts, we do this with fresh warm chamomile tea.  My babe had it really bad since he was born and it’s almost cleared up now at 3 months.  Hoping it goes away completely on its own.  My pediatrician also prescribed us an antibiotic for his eyes to rule out an infection which is incredibly common in newborns.  It didn’t clear up with it which meant it was blocked tear ducts.

A drop of Breastmilk in his eye will help. My new phew had that also his mom was recommended to put drops of breastmilk in there
