Abnormal Quad showing increased risk for trisomy 18

Raschel

Hello all, posting here for a sense of relief. 3 days ago I had my 2nd trimester/Sequential screening blood test come back with showing higher risk for trisomy 18 @ approximately 17 weeks (however, there is some descrepency to actual due date with my conception vs US dating). The MFM Dr stated it's is showing a 1 in 6 chance for trisomy 18, which sounds so discouraging but when ya do the math thats really a 16% chance. The MFM doctor pushed for amniocentesis at the time of the call stating that it's time sensitive when I resisted. I have a bicornuate uterus with the baby in the right horn, which worries me and causes concern further issues in later pregnancy. This is my third pregnancy with my first two resulting in miscarriage between 9 and 10 weeks, and just when we were feeling a sense of relief and hope that all is going well this happens and as I'm trying to stay positive very disheartening and scary all I want for is a healthy baby.

I spoke to my doctor who knows my case better than the MFM and he did put me at ease some he's saying the first trimester scan didn't show any alarm in signs baby look normal, but the more I sit here and think about it and look online (I know worst thing to do but cant help it) I'm worried about one of the pictures with the baby clenching their fists, as it's one of symptoms of Trisomy 18. Posting picture below.

There is little info of the possible ways a bicornuate uterus may effect these screening results. I did do further blood testing yestersay and have genetic couseling scheduled in 4 days.. but I'm in a 7 to 10 day waiting period for any results and would love to hear some similar stories or additional insight to kind of give me an out look on what may be ahead.
