I can’t believe the time has come for me to write my birth story. Sorry it is a bit of a long read!

We went for our last growth scan on Thursday 28th February to be told Twin A (our baby girl) had stopped growing. They were estimating she was 5lb with Twin B (our baby boy) estimated at 5lb 15oz.

My blood results had also come back and my platelets were dangerously low so they decided it was time to get the babies out.

We were quickly told we would be induced Saturday 02nd March and to wait for a phone call on the day to tell us what time to go in.

So Saturday arrives and after what seems like a life time we got the call and were told to be at the hospital for 11:00.

As soon as we arrive I am hooked up so the babies heart rates can be tracked and everything is perfect, I’m examined and there’s no need to be induced as I am already 2-3cm dilated! There is a wait to go on delivery suite so we go off for lunch and come back a few hours later.

We make it to delivery suite in the evening, and the midwife comes in to hook the heart rate monitors up again and to finally break my waters! Waters were broken at 19:30, for the next 4hours the babies are monitored and my contractions progress nicely. By 01:30 I am having 4 contractions every 10 minutes, I’m told I’ll be examined in 4 hours to see how I’m progressing.

So long story short after an hour I’m like I need to be examined I’m ready to push, I think the midwife thought I was joking but the pressure was so strong I knew my baby boy was ready to enter the world.

I got examined and was 10cm dilated!! Yay!! I literally wanted to push straight away but was told to wait, we needed doctors in the room just in case there was any complications!

20 minutes passed and I couldn’t wait a second longer, I told my midwife it was happening and she said to give a little push, his head was visible and all systems were go. Within seconds the room was full of midwives and doctors.

It took 3 pushes and my boy was in the world. 30 minutes later and after 5 more pushes his sister joined us.

To say this was the best moment of my life is an understatement!

Max arrived 03/03/2019 at 03:00 weighing 5lb 9oz and Maidie arrived at 03:30 weighing 4lb 3oz.
