Is this normal?

I was on birth control for 9 years. I went on it to control irregular periods and I was extremely anemic. I went off birth control almost a year ago to see if my body would go back to normal. And also my boyfriend and I have talked about marriage and starting a family and I read somewhere that it can be more difficult to conceive after being on the pill for so long. Whether that is accurate or not I'm not sure. I have yet to have a period. I have taken pregnancy tests and they have all been negative. Just curious if this has happened with anyone else. I have an appt with my doctor next week.
