When should I throw a baby shower?

I’m currently 14+5 and my baby is due on September 7th. My best friend is going to be in Puerto Rico until late July/early August because he is doing a semester abroad and I really want him to come. However, I feel like mid August is kind of late for a baby shower. I say mid August because he graduates August 3rd and then my Birthday is August 8th and I don’t want to overwhelm people with a baby shower and a birthday. I’ve considered making my baby shower on my birthday and just asking for gifts for the baby, but a month before the baby seems too soon too. Should I just do it while he’s in PR? I don’t think he’d be mad, I’d just be disappointed that he couldn’t come. What do y’all think?
