FTM here. When I start to go into labor, will I have time to take a shower?

I don't shower daily and would like to at least be admitted smelling and looking somewhat decent.
I know I'll get a shower or bath after and get really dirty and sweaty during delivery.

I was only in labour for 3 hours with my first, but if I had gotten in the shower at the first sign of contractions I would have had time.

Just take a shower as soon as you start having contractions and you will be fine. If you wait until they are regular and closer together you might be pushing it if you are a quick laborer.

If it’s your first I think you will. I was in water for nearly my whole labour. Bath at home for 5 hours then hospital in the bath for another 5 hours then birthing pool for other 2 hours lol! My labour was long thou 20 hours in total xxx

Depends on the person. I was only in labor for three hours with my first and we barely made it to the hospital as it was (stopped for chicken nuggets lol). But some people are in labor for 10+ hours.

Don’t shower daily meaning days without a shower?
From what I’ve been told many people have taken a shower or bath when the contractions started to take off. This is something I most definitely want to do too. I hope I’m at home when I feel this!

I’d just take a shower when you think you’re close to needing to go to the hospital. I shower every other day as well, and I just plan on taking a shower as soon as I think I’m in labor.

My collaques wife went to take a quick shower just before going to hospital and ten minutes later he was holding his first-born son 😊

Shower before you go to the hospital, that’s what I did with my first and will do again with my second. The shower wasn’t enjoyable because I was in labor but it calmed me down as I was packing.

I literally had a bath in the hospital bathroom just to kill time 😂 worst bath ever so I recommend just having a nice shower at home, wish I did but as a first timer, I was freaking out thinking baby was gonna pop out any minute 😂 but no.. he took ages 🙄😂

Sometimes you can shower while in labor if you don’t have to be hooked up to monitors for risk purposes. I’d just wait and see how it goes
