End the Stigma

Roughly this time, in 2014, two weeks were spent in the ICU/hospital, which I have no recollection of.

While my peers enjoyed playing sports and going to after school activites; I reported and attended court hearings alone at age 16 and went to after-school group therapy appointments to further understand what I went through and how to learn to continue life with the trauma I endured.

My peers had English papers to write for the teacher: I had a Victim Impact Statement to write for the judge and countless court hearing attendees: sharing my story to strangers and working with lawyers.

My peers were terrified presenting a Powerpoint: I was terrified knowing that after school I had a court hearing to attend.

Although my adolescence was not ideal, I cannot wait to mentor and aid in the healing of others that were in my shoes.

To all of the countless doctors/nurses that spent days reviving me and the Sexual Assault Crisis Support both in which aided in my recovery and mentored me along my journey to where I am now; I could not have done it without all of the wonderful people who brought me to where I am today and hope to be able to give back to the community after becoming a nurse myself.

So BEYOND thankful for my #extra5years.

Everyday is a dream come true.

Graduation set in December as a Registered Nurse
