Is doing your own Etsy shop worth it?

Trying to make some extra money so I am thinking about making my own Etsy stop. 
Is it worth it?

Yes. It does cost money to list but it’s literally change. I was able to bring in take home after my expenses around $1200 a month making personalized wedding hangers.  It was so easy to set up and each shop can have their own rules for example my shop is non refundable due to the item being custom made with a particular name or last name, unless the item was received damaged and at that point it is only replaceable, not refundable.  The money is directly deposited right into your bank account at each purchase which is so awesome.

It costs money to list on Etsy. And costs money to promote your listings and actually have them show up in searches. I’ve had more luck in other places.

My Etsy pays nearly all of my bills. 100% worth it, but I’m in a niche market. I think it mostly depends what you are selling.

I had a little clothing shop on etsy with things I made. They didnt sell as well as I wanted but i think my target audience was a bit specific. I ended up closing shop cause I was barely breaking even when I did. But it was fun and it felt like an accomplishment when I sold something. I would do it again if I had the time. the up front cost was minimal.
However i think wedding stuff will always be popular. I got soooooo much of my wedding decor and accessories off of etsy.
One of my friends has an etsy shop where she sells paper decor for children's parties and shes doing a good job with that.
Whatever you end up doing, will you let us know what your shop is called?! I'd so promote it :D
