Heterophilic antibody almost confirmed. Almost ready to try again
This might be a long and very confusing story so please bear with me. I’m just coming to understand it myself.
I had a miscarriage on December 6th last year. My levels were dropping very slowly. But I got my first period 6 weeks after on January 16 when my levels were at 28. My second one came right on time on Valentine’s Day. I had bloodwork done right as my second period started and my levels were at 8. I was so excited because I thought that my levels were about to drop below 5 and I would officially be cleared to try again. But I had bloodwork drawn again after my period ended and my levels went up to 13.
My doctor called me and told me my levels weren’t behaving normally. He believed that it is due to a Heterophilic antibody. Basically, I was exposed to some kind of bacteria that cause my body to develop this antibody. The thing about it is it closely resembles hcg; so it can lead to a false positive. The doctor told me the antibody is only detectable through blood and not a urine test. So he had me come in to have more blood work done and to take a pregnancy test for him to look at.
The pregnancy test came back negative but my blood work said my levels are now at 20. My doctor is convinced this is the antibody. He is sending me into the lab to get tested for it. If his suspicions are confirmed, then he will give me the go ahead to try again.
I started my third period today. It came right on time according to the glow app so I’m hoping that the lab results will confirm that I have this antibody. Hubby and I are sooooo ready to try again. Prayers and baby dust to all of you.
