I recently got sick and was prescribed 7 days of amoxicillin as treatment. I started taking them around the start of the month.

I have read that if you are on antibiotics and on BC, you should use a back up during the month..

Answer

Amoxicillin isn't supposed to reduce the effectiveness of bc. But it's possible having a backup plan isn't a bad idea. The antibiotic that does interact  bc is rifampin
