Getting the copper IUD?

Question

I'm going for my 6/7 week postpartum appointment today and have researched all the breastfeeding safe contraceptive options and think I'm going to go with the copper IUD. I'm a little nervous though because I read that it hurts quite a bit when they put it in and causes bad cramps afterwards. What are your experiences with this ladies? What can I expect going in today? I delivered via Caesarian not vaginally if that makes a difference...

I had mild cramping for about 20-30 minutes after. I don't know if having a c-section would make it worse though.

I had mine for 7yrs, I loved it! My periods were regular and no worse than before. I cramped for about an hour after insertion, but they advised me to take Morris before insertion and I forgot. Good luck!

I had Mirena and although they're different it didn't hurt being inserted I did experience mild cramping for months. I was happy with the results.

I had paraguard for 2 years and it Hurt bad going in, and just made my period cramps and flow worse. I didn't mind it, took it out since TTC#3

Hurt during insertion and I had worse cramps during my period, but not having to worry about taking a pill and being able to use a method that was non-hormonal outweighed those by a long shot. I loved it and will absolutely go back to it after I'm done gestating this wee beastie.

I had a Paraguard inserted 6 weeks postpartum. Insertion wasn't too bad, but it kickstarted my period (had already had one postpartum, lucky me) and I had really horrific cramps for a few days. I kept it in for two years, during which my periods were regular, but my cramps were worse than normal and the period ranged from 2-3 weeks long each month. I don't regret it, since I was able to bf my daughter for 21 months, but it was not pleasant.

I had the paragard for a year. 
Insertion was ok. One sharp pinch and it was done
Migraines, bloating, super fatigue and hungry all the time. Basically PMS every day. 
My periode got heavier and I gained 10 pounds. Other than that I had no issues.

Bottom line. Watch what you eat and take your vitamines ☺
