Contracting not dialating

Hey guys so I got checked today and was only a fingertip dialated which he said was about a cm and 60% effaced. he said I had stool which can stop the dialating and mentioned castor oil. I had regular contractions during my whole appointment. Does anyone has similar experience and did you do anything to kickstart the labor
