Baby Shower Timing

Yesterday my sister, who is hosting my shower, and I were discussing timing for the shower. She thinks 4 weeks before the baby is due is good but I’d prefer 8 weeks to allow us to close any essential gaps (stuff we need but one one gifts). My sister suggested we buy stuff now and keep the receipt so if the gap is closed we can return it later. All this to say I’d love to hear from you when your baby shower will be.

Update - Thank you to everyone who responded. We are going to go with 6 weeks. I think it is a good compromise.
