What is the strep b test? Anything y’all can tell me about the end of pregnancy into labor and the hospital stay would be so helpful. FTM here and don’t know much about the process! (32 weeks)

Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a type of bacterial infection that can be found in a pregnantwoman's vagina or rectum.
They do a  Vagina swab to test for it
Its just something some women have.
They will start you on antibiotics when you get to the hospital,its very important to get the IV antibiotics 
GBS can pass to the baby during childbirth. Sometimes GBS infection in newborn babies can cause serious complications that can be life threatening

The doctor told me its to check for an increased bacteria that could lead to baby getting meningitis. Basically if you have it you go on antibiotics. Pretty easy.

So if you test postive, you’ll get antibiotics during labor so that baby doesn’t get it. I was told if my water broke, get to the hospital ASAP because you don’t know how fast your labor will be. But other than an IV, there’s nothing different.
