Refusing an induction??

Question

Is anyone else considering refusing to be induced if you go to 42 weeks?? Dont get me wrong I really want this baby to come sooner rather than later, am 37wks now, but I also really want a water birth or natural birth, without medications. 
What"s your thoughts on this??

I don't think anyone should refuse medical advice especially when it's your child's well being. I understand the want and need for a "birth plan" and a vision as to how you want the birth to go, but I wouldn't go against what guess doctor says.

I was considering it as I'll be 42 weeks on Tuesday, but my water broke this morning so I won't be induced after all

I think we all need to remind ourselves that the due date is a rough estimate in itself so perhaps many 'late' babies are not actually late but just on time. Yes continuing with pregnancy may carry some risks in some people but equally pulling babies out too soon or having interventions such as inductions also pose a great risk. Both my girls were close to two weeks late and very healthy so I intend to go to 42 weeks if necessary with this one then take it day by day without rushing into any decisions. What's safe for baby often goes hand in hand with what feels most comfortable to the mother, hence why a water birth/home birth has been proven to be safer in those women that are not high risk.

My babies were past 42 and healthy but I had to be monitored a few times a week starting at 41 weeks. I was induced using homepathics. Not pitocin!

I was induced with my 2nd child at 41+5 and didn't like it at all! She was back to back and with the medicine given in inducement, my labour pains were sooo intense! I will not have another induction unless me or my 3rd child is at risk  - so I will happily carry on until spontaneous labour happens 😊

Thank you for your reply, yes there are a few increased risks with going over 42weeks but those risks are very small and I personally feel pregnancy comes with a host of risks anyways! I am ultimalty trying to avoid a c-section from a failed induction, but ultimately will do what is best for baby at the time.

I am 39+4 now and told my Dr I want to avoid being induced in hopes of having an all natural birth. My due date is September 16 and we agreed that 'end date' is September 28. He doesn't feel comfortable letting me go past that date, and with even the slightest risk, I don't either. So I'll be just shy of 42 weeks if I go that far.

I would refuse too unless there was a medical reason to go ahead for the good of my baby or myself.
