When should I take a pregnancy test?

I’ve been feeling really off here lately and it’s not like I normally feel. I haven’t missed my period yet, but I’m wondering if it would be accurate if I took a test before my period is supposed to come. I take a lot of medicine for different health conditions and I’m concerned that if I am pregnant, I could be hurting the baby. I still have a week before my period is supposed to come.
