How did a newborn affect your relationship with hubby?

It’s been so tough on our relationship and I’d like to know it’s that’s normal...I heard husbands usually fall back in love with their wives after they give birth but mine just disconnected, and I ended up doing the same! I’m as much to blame.
Would just like to hear some stories that could give me an indication of how baby affects marriage 🙏🙏🙏💕
And what was done to bring it back together

It is very normal. A newborn can make or break a couple in that first year. The key is to work harder, talk to each other, make that time for each other.  Sometimes men feel neglected, sometimes women feel neglected because you guys have not figured out how to manage to balance your attention and time for one another. The lack of sleep, the stress, the adjustments take a toll. You are learning about each other again, you are becoming more than just a couple now. You are learning to adapt to your new role as parents. Plus your post partum hormones will be a mess for a bit too.  Just remember this is totally normal.

It was really hard. Way harder than I thought. I was up every half hour with my little for the first 3 months. Meaning I'd get 10 minutes of sleep every half hour. Less than 2 hours a night. I was beyond exhausted. I never had my husband get up with her. I'm not really sure why. I guess I just felt fully responsible for her at night.
We fought a lot. I cried a lot. My hormones were all over the place. I had PPD. My husband went through a short depression as well.
Having kids is really fucking hard.
I have a 22 month old and an 8 month old. Shits still hard but getting better.
We let our marriage suffer in order to give our kids everything we had. It definitely put us close to our breaking point.
But now we have a lot more of ourselves to give to each other.
It does get easier.

Im not going to lie: it was hard. And I’m not just talking about the newborn phase, I’m talking about the baby/toddler phase. Everything is always about the baby. All the time. Our kid requires a lot of attention (not every baby is like that). There is little time for ourselves. And in the few moments where it isn’t about the baby, it’s about sleep. Our daughter is 1.5 and it’s still challenging. Although it’s harder for us than some because we have no natural supports in our area, so there is no one to say “hey, let me watch the baby and you two go out for a date night”.  But thankfully now, as she gets older and more independent, it is becoming a bit easier.

We definitely have our nights where baby is being difficult and then we end up arguing because we are both frustrated at 2 am with a screaming baby. But you have to remember you’re in this together.. we always end up apologizing 10 minutes later. Is he disconnected as in not helping you at all with the baby?

It's been hard, in some ways I feel were stronger than before but I also feel disconnected from him. Where he works all day and he sleeps in the spare room as he needs his sleep for work.
I sometimes feel lonely with only a baby for company 24/7.
Our daughters in her own room now we just need to fix our bed then he's coming back to our room I'm hoping that will help.

We had twins and I was ready to strangle his ass the 4th night of being home. 
They are 14 months old now and I don’t know how I haven’t killed him yet...I must have super self control because he’s NO HELP AT ALL!

My daughter had colic extremely bad and the first 5 months of her life was extremely difficult and it definitely tested our relationship and contemplated divorce. I’m so glad that never happened and we pushed through it because we are happier than ever now but newborns are hard and can test your limits. I also had really bad postpartum depression and I couldn’t control my feelings of despair which made our relationship even more unstable. Luckily all of those feelings are long gone. I love my daughter but that experience made me not want more kids lol

It was hard at the beginning as i felt like i was alone taking care of the baby. He helps but he just seems clueless and he ends up getting frustrated so i take over. Thank god we have a lot of help. My in laws are amazing. And I’m very lucky that my husband supports me emotionally so I figured I’ll take care of the baby but whenever i felt alone I would just tell him and he will do everything to make me feel better. At the end of the day he’ll always be the love of my life and he’s the only one who knows how to make me happy. Someday he’ll be insufferable though especially when baby is cranky 😅

The first week or two home my hubby worked a lot and I felt fully responsible for baby. I’m also the type of person to do everything myself and not ask for any help. When I finally hit a breaking point from exhaustion and the first time baby cried inconsolably was when things changed. I decided I had to drop my pride and ask for help when I needed it. My husband and I had a long talk about expectations for each other and the way having a baby has changed our lives. I now trust him to take her if I need sleep or time to myself. I know he will figure it out and he’s never brought her back to me with any issues. Once I started pumping I always keep a bottle or two of milk in the fridge ready to go if she gets hungry while he’s watching her. Our love language with each other is physical touch so whenever we are close we touch hands or give little hugs and kisses all the time. It’s helped us to stay connected and feel like ourselves before baby came. He sleeps in the spare room since I co-sleep with baby and he needs sleep for work. If I can get her down sometimes I will crawl into bed with him and cuddle for 10-20 mins. We haven’t resumed sex but I think we will in the next couple of weeks. Our daughter is almost 6 weeks old today.
