Do You think Racism and Prejudice in American is Getting Worse?

I have been discriminated against this past year more than I’ve ever been in my entire life. It’s ridiculous. What’s also crazy to me is that even though it seems that racial tension is growing, so is the rate of interracial dating. I see interracial couples or families out an about everyday. I just don’t get what’s going on, I have never felt judged because of my race till now.

Since trump was elected, it has gotten worse. More people no longer think they have to hide their prejudice since the election. They're becoming more open about their racism.

I think it seems worse because people shout their nastiness from the rooftops. I think this has to do not just with Trump (though he is a HUGE part) but also social media. Everyone likes to shout their damn opinion and shove it in each other’s face. No one has a filter anymore. And sadly hate is easily fueled the larger the group. And the internet is large. So pair that with a generation raised on the internet along with president - nightmare

Actually, racism have been always existed in America even all over the world but it’s everywhere because the social media is available everywhere, it’s easy to catch people in the act of racism and share it then it becomes a viral on the internet where we can see it. Also, we gained more awareness of what’s going on around us compared to back then.

For the people who never sees the racism or experience it, of course, do you realize you are white? Lol, white people don’t get to encounter that 🙄 only black, dark skinned Hispanics, Asians, and many people of colors always face that on a daily basis, racism doesn’t have to be loud but it can be very subtle in jokes, stories and sayings. I’m Latina myself and I had seen a several people being super racist but in a really subtle way by made a lot of unnecessary jokes literally in NYC, well known for a lot of diversity here, it’s crazy but nobody else are willing to stand up and say hey what you said was not right because they are too afraid of the “confrontation”. So, I had to let them know they were being fucking lame for that. I experienced it and I had seen it because I’m Latina myself, not white. White people just lives in their own bubbles so of course, they doesn’t really get to experience that unlike the people of color.

Have you taken a look at our countries history? It was formed on racism, prejudices, abuse and hatred.. do I think it’s getting worse? No.. I just think that people are more aware or outspoken about it these days.

I think there’s a vast difference between more people actually being racist/prejudiced versus them being comfortable enough to air it in more public settings. I certainly think the latter is happening, but not so much the former.
