Doctor didn’t test for pregnancy??

This might be a weird question, but I went to my first appointment at 7.4weeks and the doctor did a pelvic & breast exam and sent me to the lab for blood and urine tests. I got all my test results back online and realized there wasn’t even one for pregnancy! Can he tell buy looking down there that I’m pregnant? Or are we just going off the honor system 😅

Did you give a urine sample at the office? If you did they probably just did a dipstick and that was it. The fact that they gave you the bloodwork ect I would assume means they confirmed the pregnancy. Both my pregnancies were never tested for hcg in my bloodwork. Just from the dipstick pregnancy test in office and a transvaginal ultrasound.

I’ve never had hcg tested (which is how they would confirm pregnancy) at a routine first appointment during pregnancy, if you have a positive home test they consider that accurate enough. This is my 5th pregnancy and the only time I’ve ever had my hcg tested was in the two pregnancies where I was miscarrying, never in my healthy pregnancies.

I was specifically looking for HCG test. I’ve had one in the past and know what it looks like on my records. They did not test for pregnancy.

I called yesterday before the lab closed to ask them. They specifically only test for what the doctor orders to be tested as they are a third party lab in the same building. The doctor did not, I repeat- DID NOT, order a pregnancy test of any kind for myself. She said it’s not too unusual either. She said something they NEVER do is just dip a pregnancy test in urine for the heck of it lol and that they record any and all testing they do. All the tests they ran for me were all posted online already which if anyone was wondering was a cystic fibrosis screening, genital culture, urinalysis, and glycohemoglobin (diabetes) test. 
During my pelvic exam my doctor was chatting with my fiancé the entire time and the only thing he said about myself was that I’m “long and narrow” after asking his assistant to get the smaller thingy they use. He did do the weird finger inside-push on my stomach thing and said he was checking my bone structure but did not actually say what the result of that was. It was honestly an all around weird day as it was my fiancé’s birthday and we thought were going to see our baby on an ultrasound and have all our questions answered as first time parents but instead I got a surprise pap smear and breast exam. 😬 🎉

They probably did a dip test in the urine and that far along they can often tell by how the cervix looks too.

I went to my ob thinking I was only 6 weeks. When he did a pelvic exam he mentioned that my cervix was closed and firm. Then checked my insides by putting his fingers in me and pushing down on my belly. He told me while doing that, that I felt farther along then 6 weeks. We did an ultrasound and found out I'm 9 weeks. (Now 11 weeks today) but yes they can tell. They didn't test me for pregnancy because I had that done before coming in to the doctor. At a different location.

The doc can also often tell by your cervix. It can turn a bluish color (chadwicks sign) when your pregnant. With that and urine being positive, they probably dont have a need to draw HCG test unless you were presenting with signs of a miscarriage.

They can tell from your urine and blood. If you are able to look at the results it should tell you your hcg levels.
