Not well educated on the female body..

Ok so this is really embarrassing but I honestly just don’t know much about my female anatomy. I didn’t receive a good sex education since I grew up in a religious homeschool family. Basically the soft tissue above my clitoris (I’m not sure what it’s called) seems to be very very thin and often splits. I have no other symptoms, no itching, no bad smells, no pain. I guess I’m not sure if this is normal, what this area of my vagina is called, and what can be done about it. I won’t have insurance again for a few weeks due to some job changes, so I’m on my own to figure it out at this point and it hurts a lot!! Any help is appreciated
