Talking to your dr. About help?

How do I go about talking to my dr about getting some sort of meds to help my chances of conserving? She told me that I needed to take prenatal V then went on to tell me that I should stopt ttc until I loose weight I have been trying for a little over a year now and I don't want to stop because I am afraid that I will miss my chance to have a baby because my husband is older and I don't want to wast time starting a family
