Please help any advice is helpful

So my boyfriend and I are 19 we are sophomores in college and live together. This is our second year together but we've known each other for a little over 3 years. We want to get engaged but he wants to get me an expensive ring and wait but I don't care how expensive the ring is I just want to say I do and marry him because the price doesn't matter to me our love does :( how should I handle this?
