if you knew there was a slight possibility the breed you’re looking for could be aggressive, would you rather adopt from a breeder or a shelter/rescue?

I’m currently looking to adopt a dog. I have always been hell bent on a rescue/shelter animal and firmly believe all dogs can be trained at any age. However, I’ve come to somewhat of “crossroads” so to speak. As much as I would love a rescue, for the type of dog I want, I really think it’s important to know as much background on the dog as possible. Like where it was found, the condition the animal was in before the shelter/rescue, if it was abused, old fighting dog ,bait dog etc and if at all possible if it did come from a breeder, I’d like to know the parents background/info, success and temperament of the other offspring etc. as well. So I’m kinda stuck, I’m not sure if a breeder would be the safest option or if the chances of the dog becoming “aggressive” is the same if brought home from a shelter.

Which brings me to the poll question, if you knew there was a slight possibility the breed you’re looking for could be “aggressive”, would you rather adopt from a breeder or a shelter/rescue?
