My ex lied about his death should I try to help him?

So my ex was known to be a liar and I know he was so I told him. He promised me that he would never lie to me again.

Than he stopped talking to me for a while. So when I got a hold of him he told he that he wanted to kill himself. Which I tried to stop by calling his family and talking to him. Later he found out and told me that he did it and that he was I the hospital and was going to died in two months.

So I tried talking to him than I got a hold of his parents and they said that he lied and that he was never in the hospital. So we broke up. Should I tell to help him?
