Sleep/Nap Training Help

Kali

So we just started sleep training our daughter (5 months old on Tuesday) and she is doing an amazing, mostly tearless job at independent sleep! However, she’s still having trouble with short naps. We’ve been told (and read in various sources) that she should be down to 3 naps by this age, but if she takes short naps all day, we need to sneak in a fourth cat nap to get her to her 7pm bedtime. Does anyone have any suggestions for us? We’ve moved her bedtime up, but she does end up waking about an hour earlier than normal in the morning when we do that.

(The method we are following advocates for a ‘by the clock’ schedule. We follow this loosely, but put her down before she has a meltdown from being awake too long.)
