Announcing too early?

My husband and I have our bfp with our first and I'm due in May. Both of our parents live 22+ hours away from us and just so happens my mother is going on a trip with her boyfriend to the next state over and we agreed to meet them for the week. My mom has no idea we were TTC and I'm so excited to tell her, but I want to do it in person and this might be my only chance for awhile. Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to announcing? And I have to hope she won't spill the beans until we can get to the in-laws lol

"They" (who the hell they are, we will never know...) say that you should wait at least 10-12 weeks but with parents I always feel that you can tell them earlier if you are eager. The reason it's a rule of thumb is because there's a higher risk of miscarriage in the first trimester. I would say if you have a really good, communicative relationship with them, you should just go for it!! In person is always going to be so much better. Congrats doll!

I say go for it. I had a infant loss in April, and I'm also do in may. We just told our parents for the fact that if something does happen, we want the support of our parents.

My logic was I'd rather people know why I didn't have kids then ask my why I didn't. Which would have been much harder for me. At 22 weeks currently most of my workplace doesn't know (large company and not showing) but my family knew at 8 weeks (the only time I'd see them all together in a few months) and then I told my friends and boss around 13 weeks. Do what's right for you, and don't let anyone shame you into telling or not telling.

Tell her. It's one opportunity you will be blessed to have!  My parents live only 3hrs away but they hardly come over so when they did I told them 😊

I told my mom two days after I found out. I ended up having a miscarriage but since my husband was out of town, my mother was the one who went to the er with me. I wouldn't have changed telling her. Having her support meant everything to me

I told my parents and siblings right away. Last year, I ended up miscarrying and we told our parents right away and my MIL told everyone! A few days later once I found out I would miscarry it was really awkward that people I didn't know very well were like, oh I'm sorry, etc. this time around, we told our parents right away and told them to keep it zipped until we told everyone else. We put it in Facebook at about 13-14weeks. After the first trimester, the risk of m/c goes down drastically

I told my family right away with every pregnancy (we lost 2 and are currently pregnant with the 3rd). I also have told friends who were there for me during the losses. We plan on announcing our current one publicly at 13 weeks, but we will see if I get cold feet lol do whatever you want to do!
