How do you know when you’re ready?

I’m 17, still a Virgin... I know it’s not a bad thing but I’ve always questioned how will I know when I’m ready for sex. So the question still remains... how will I know when I’m ready for sex?

I'm 18 and started having sex at 12 years old and I honestly regret it. Most of the time, sex and relationships involve a lot of emotion, especially for the lady. I believe you should have a strong grasp on your emotions, self worth and future. You don't want to depend on a boy/man for anything, whether it's an emotion need or financial. I went through a lot of emotional abuse in my past relationships and I believe that if I had more love for myself, I probably could've prevented the emotional scars. Don't rush anything, there's no shame in protecting your body and emotions. When and if you do decide to start having sex, I recommend using a condom and birth control, your local planned parenthood may be able to provide those 2 things for free. I lost my virginity when I was 15 to my now husband. For me, it was about the guy. I finally found one who seemed like he wasn’t with me just for sex and to run and tell his friends. He seemed to genuinely care for me.

This is a lame answer but honestly, you’ll know when you’re ready. It’ll be comfortable and not scary anymore. When the time and person are right, it’ll feel completely natural. Don’t rush! There’s nothing wrong with waiting till you’re ready, it makes everything so much better.

I was 23 when I lost my virginity.. some wait til their married.. it all depends on how you feel and the love u have for each other.. don't rush it or think omg I'm a loser.. all my friends have done it.. don't feel pressured to be like the crowd and when it starts to feel right with someone.. u'll know.
