Would you travel for your uncles wedding 12 hours away 3 weeks after c section with newborn and 3 year old?

Some of my family members (who don’t have children) have told me, I should be fine and to make the effort of being there. I would love to be there, but I’m worried that 12 hours will be tough with a newborn, post surgery, and a 3 year old. I don’t know if I’m over exaggerating the circumstances or if I’m just being reasonable with the challenges that we may face while traveling  24 hours total in a weekend, but a little outsiders perspective would be appreciated. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No, your newborn can only be in a car seat for up to 1 hour 45 minutes, so it wouldn’t be just a 12 hour drive. Plus, 3 weeks after a C-Section!!!!!! That’s brave, you need to rest and not be stuck in a car. Think about your family first xxxxxx

1) 3 weeks post major abdominal surgery + 12 hour car ride, sound like a terrible time. 
2) a baby that young should not be around that amount of people. Baby does not have a great immune system as is and then again no immunizations yet. 
3) if you’re breastfeeding that 12 hour trip is going to turn in to a lot longer as that’s a good age for infants to cluster feed
4) if you originally thought absolutely not (like I did) go with your gut instinct. 
You’re the momma not them. This is 100% up to you and your comfort level.

The drive alone will be so uncomfortable.  Hard w a newborn, the drive the germs the people etc let alone ur healing from major abdominal surgery.  Who cares what they think this is ur and ur babys health! Just say no!

It would depend on how close we are.. I traveled 9 hours 1 week postpartum with a newborn and 3 year old and they both slept through most of it so it was fairly easy except for my butt hurting from sitting so long. I also had a vaginal delivery though, and it was to go to Yosemite National Park lol I’d say if you’re not that close to him. It’s not worth the exhaustion and effort just to make an appearance.

No, I dont think you should and anyone who is saying you need to make the "effort" should kick rocks. I dont plan on bringing my baby out in public places with family wanting to touch him and be in his face for 6 weeks. He needs shots and stuff. Beyond people having germs, your body needs time to heal and recover. Cant do that at a wedding 12 minutes away let alone 12 hours!

You need to take care of yourself after a major surgery as a c section. And sitting for 12 hours and barely stretching your legs you can get blood clots. Better safe than sorry. You only get have your health and no one else is going to take care of you if you don’t make it a priority. Your baby needs a healthy mama for a long long time. My first child I had a c section and the recovery was a long process and shouldn’t be taken lightly as a natural birth. Your going to have your major muscles and uterus cut into and you don’t want your uterus bursting because someone said you should make an effort to be somewhere.
