In-laws & our registry

So my mother in-law & the rest of my spouse side of the family constantly try to put me down because my family is always buying things for the baby & getting things off the registry. First they tell me “Oh you need to stop because all a baby need is you and diapers” 🥴🥴 like WHAT ?! Then it became an issue that between what my spouse and I buy and my family buy ... they say we’re not saving anything for them to get up they don’t want to buy until the month the baby is due. Am I wrong for not stopping my family and myself from buying things from the registry and for the baby? They’re definitely starting to get under my skin .
