How soon after giving birth to try for #2?

We want kids pretty close in age. How long after having a baby is a safe, healthy good time to try again?

I got pregnant when my dauhhter was days away from being 5 months old. Not on purpose.. It happened while i was on the pill.. But point being im 37w 5d and ive had a very healthy pregnancy, baby is growing fine and is actually measuring a little big lol . so i think you'll be fine when baby is about 3 to 4 months old.

My best friends son is 4 months old and she just found out she was pregnant again. Her due date is the same date as her son. I would ask your OB but I think it’s fine to get pregnant again once you are fully healed from your previous pregnancy.

I’m not sure of the proper medical time but if you are nursing may be best to wait a year because breastfeeding can become painful when pregnant for some women . My daughters are 21 months apart so right after she turned one I got pregnant again. To me this was good timing - I had a whole year of not being pregnant and getting through  the crazy baby stage and they are still close in age.

I had a normal vaginal birth. My doctor told me to wait 3-4 months before ttc again.

I got pregnant 9 months pp and I wouldn't recommend it. This pregnancy has been tough, my first was so easy. My MIL and a friend of mine got pregnant 12 months pp and had serious back issues that made them stop work early due to not healing enough. If I could do it over, I'd wait 18 months-2 years.

If you research it, 18 months is recommended to give your body adequate time to heal. Obviously people get pregnant faster than that pretty regularly. 
My daughter was premature so I gave it the full 18 months before trying again. Got pregnant after 3 months trying so they’ll be about 3 months shy of 3 years apart.

I had a c section so my doctor said not till shes 18 months. We started trying last month when she was 17 months, nothing yet but hopefully soon.
