How important is meeting with dietitian?

My midwife sent a referral for me to meet with a dietician and diabetes nurse.  They were really rude on the phone and can’t get me in for a month.  I’ve done my research and am already following a meal plan with all my numbers in range for the week I’ve been testing since my diagnosis.  I’m thinking of skipping it unless my number get bad.  Anyone have experiences to share?

I would still go - or try to get in somewhere else. 
I think its important to have someone else on your side in addition to your ob. Your numbers can change overnight and you'll want to be able to make sure you can talk to someone who specializes in it. NOT to say your OB isnt a great person to keep in contact with, but I find that having both the diabetes specialist and my OB working hand in hand has been keeping everything on the straight and narrow.

Can you find someone else? I would go. I see a nurse every 2 weeks even though my numbers are fine without medication but that can change as your pregnancy progresses. Good luck!

The dietician I saw was absolutely lovely. It is important to go as they go through your regular diet and then help you out with what swaps you need to make and what you can keep. I learned a lot from my meeting.

Mine showed me how to read a nutrition label like I was unable to read and didn't know about carbs. She spoke to me like a child who ate too much candy. It was condescending and unnecessary. 
But check to see if your insurance requires it. That might be the only thing to think about.

Same experience. Dietician was terrible. So with my midwifes advice, my midwife is continuing to monitor my weight and blood pressure at our appointments every 2 weeks and I am emailing the dietician my blood sugar logs. I refuse to go see her unless I need to. 
It’s taking me 8 weeks to get in with the diabetic doctor! 
Finally see her next week. What a joke.
