Is it ethical to open an ancient burial tomb?

Question

Currently on the Discovery Channel they are live streaming the finding and opening of a newly discovered Egyptian high priest's tomb. It got me thinking (as fascinating as I think that is), is that ethical? Do mummies deserve some privacy? 
Curious of your thoughts.

I support archeology, but it should be done ethically. 
That means with approval of the current local government as well as any living descendants of the dead. The latter isn’t much of an issue with ancient Egypt since were so far removed in time, but receiving tribal permission in the Americas is a very big deal. 
I’m on the fence about displaying human remains including mummies in museums.

This is tough. It is disrespectful because it’s still a dead person who should be left alone. But it’s also important to know more about history. Idk I guess it’s up to the locals and how they feel about it. Either way the archeologists should be doing all that respectfully. 
On another note aren’t they scared they unleash some curse and get hunted by mummy warriors? Lol or do i watch too many movies

I guess that's the risk you take if you don't wanna be cremated 🤷 I'd personally find it pretty cool to have someone dig up my grave and study me as if I were someone of any importance.. but I already know I won't have to worry about being important while living or being important in the after life.

Better question is at what point is a person no longer a person but an archeological find? Which could also lead to at what point is a tomb no longer a tomb?

i say leave it up to locals/descendants/tribes/etc. they know the history, they know the significance, and they will always know best compared to foreigners even those who respect and are well educated on that area of the world. it’s personal and sometimes heavily spiritual to those people. as long as they’re okay with it i say it should be done. additionally, i think that they should be extra cautious in order to not damage anything and to not exploit those remains or any other items.

I do think it's disrespectful to be honest. However, I find it fascinating and informative. I think it's beneficial so we can learn more about the past. I'm torn, but I prefer having information over not.
