Reuse car seat?

Ok my first son will be 5 in June and my 2nd baby is due October. My sons car seat is in perfect condition, never damaged or been in an accident and has been stored safely. Do you think it will be ok to reuse?? Do car seats have an expiration date?!!!

There is an expiration date written on a sticker, usually on the side of the car seat :)

It’ll have the manufacture date and it’s good for 6 years after that :)

Yea I’d say as long as isn’t expired it’s okay, I read somewhere they usually expire around the 6-10 year mark. Obviously depending on the car seat.

If it has been exposed to each season as in it hasn’t been kept in a house, throw it out. You don’t know what the heat could have done to the plastic of the seat. It could have warped it and you’d never know until it was too late. We ALWAYS tell parents to buy new and never buy a used one. Because you don’t know if that person had been in a minor fender bender or anything

If it’s expired or close to expiring, if you have a Target store nearby, you could look into their car seat trade in program. I want to say it’s at the end of this month but I’m not 100% sure. Basically you go to guest services and tell them you want to trade in your old seat, they take it and give you a coupon to get like 20% off a brand new car seat. Then they recycle the old seats.

If the carseat is expired I know her in Atlanta at Northside hospital they wont even let you take the baby home in it. I'd get a new one just to be safe
