Sex Ed teacher..

Last week I awas teaching a class of 8th graders about STD’s and STI’s. Well we got on the subject of AIDS, I have to teach the history of this as other diseases. A female student got very upset with me when I put down a piece of paper with GRID on it which as we know stands for gay-related immunodeficiency. It’s a subject I have to teach about, she told me I was lying about this and I was just homophobic. Well she went home and told her parents that I was homophobic and so they called the principal. I had other students telling the principal that I was just doing my job AS I WAS. She has been since removed from a “homophobic unsafe school” which is very very untrue!! We have a safe place for ALL children who are heterosexual and homosexual!!! We love every student the same and I wish she didn’t feel so attacked. Just wanted to get this off my chest as I feel sad she thought I was trying to hurt a group of students. Any opinions?

As I said before- I HAD TO TEACH ABOUT THE HISTORY INCLUDING WHAT THEY USED TO CALL IT.
