Mirena IUD

So, my husband and I have tried to have sex a couple of times in the past week or so and both times, he said the strings to my IUD have been poking him...how do I fix it without going to the doctor?

P.S. after the first week, he said he kind of felt it. Then he didn't feel it until about a week ago and it was right after my period. A week later (today)he said he felt it again and we couldn't have sex...

It's kinda sad...and kind of weird that we went about a month without him feeling it then all of a sudden he felt it...
