Unsure exactly what to do ..?

Ok so my cycle is extremely irregular.

I've heard from ofcourse EVERYone that the best fix is birth control... but I can't handle the thought of getting.. "examined". (I also don't want my family to find out I'm not a virgin).

And I've heard that eventhough lots of people say birth control is supposed to HELP, I've also recently started hearing more and more to NOT go on birth control because your hormones go insane (more than usual) and your body can react to changes in many ways (some dangerous).

Please tell me what to do.
