Do you take your newborn out late?

FTM and I’m wondering what everyone’s opinions are on taking a baby out late. My husband and all of our friends think it’s fine because newborns sleep almost anywhere, which she does, but I always feel so guilty and feel like she should be home in her bassinet.

Never! I need to stick to the routine. I need my sanity and time to myself too.

We didn't start a fixed bedtime routine until around 10 weeks so took him out until then. His natural bedtime until that point was between 10 and 12 so going out didn't disrupt him. When he naturally brought his bedtime forward to 9 (and the 8) we stopped and made sure he was home for 7:30 to start his routine.

I've never allowed having a baby to stop me from living my life. We've always taken our daughter everywhere with us and we didn't establish a set bedtime until 4 months. From there, we became less lenient. But it's nothing but beneficial for you to teach your child how to sleep anywhere. And to those who think it'll mess up the routine: our daughter has always had an excellent routine. The same bedtime routine from day one. We had her sleeping through the night by 5 weeks and she was putting herself to sleep by 3 months. We promote nothing but good, healthy sleep habits in our home. We still took her out often as a newborn. She was used to it and could sleep anywhere.

My husband and I are on a second shift schedule and so is our daughter. So when we go out shopping or whatever it’s typically about 2am. And we’ve done that with her since she was a few weeks old, she’s almost one and perfectly fine. Don’t feel guilty.

We wouldn’t go out too late only because we were sleepy too but my daughter would sleep anywhere when she was in her infant car seat. Now that she is 16 months we don’t go out late, leave the house past 7 for dinner is pushing it because she turns into a monster. I also feel like people give you judgey looks with a brand new baby being out past 9

Never. For sure stick to a routine especially early on. We would feed and be in bed by 9 at the latest. If he was off it was three days before we got back into a routine.

We did it all the time because he literally slept no matter where he was. So it was no big deal to just put him in his car seat and carry him wherever we went. We don’t stay out as late now, but my son notices a routine more than a time. So as long as the same routine is done, he thinks its bedtime.

Hell no. Mine WON'T sleep just anywhere after 6pm she has to have the blackout curtains and white noise and running. Last night I made the mistake of staying at my mom's too late. Come 6pm she started screaming bloody murder and absolutely nothing worked to calm her down. After an hour of checking and rechecking all oc the possibilities I determined to just take her home hoping the car ride would make her go to sleep because it works in the day time. Nope she screamed the entire way home.  I pulled over twice and tried everything again and nothing worked. It was an hour drive home and by the time I got home my anxiety was through the roof. I took her to her room turned on the white noise machine and she stopped crying. A few minutes later I was offering her the bedtime bottle and she accepted it finally. Then she proceeded to projectile vomit the entire bottle all over me, herself, her father and everything in the 2ft  span between us. Never again will we stay out past bedtime.

Nope. Both my kids be time has been 8:00 since birth, we started our schedule right away. They're 6 1/2 and 2 years old now.
