What do I do?

My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I'm in New Zealand and he's in the UK. Lately he's been so distant, maybe messaging me only once a day. Barely answer my calls or call me back. When we call he's always in a rush somewhere so we never actually had a proper conversation in a while.

I just hate being the only person constantly reaching out.

This was 2 days ago:

And today when I tried to call him he said he was sleeping and I woke him up. Usually he would call me before sleep but he never really calls me the past month. We've been in a long distance for about a year.

It's been more than 12 hours since our last message, which means it's noon at his time now and he should be awake but he doesn't contact me as always.

What do I do? Should I just ghost him as well? Should I try not to contact him for a period of time or should I reach out to him more? Or am I just overthinking it?

I've talked to him so many times about this but every time I bring it up he always says something like "This is what I don't like about you. You're clingy and the more you act like this the less I'll like you"
