Asking my boyfriend to get tested

He was my first but I wasn't his and frankly he has been with a good number of people before me. I asked him to get tested and he was really hurt by it but said he would and his reaction made me feel bad so so told him he didn't have to buy he kept pushing saying he would but now its been a few weeks and I'm starting the pill and wanna have sex without anything but he hasn't told be if he got tested or not. What should I do? So I ask again? Do I trust that he did? Help?!
