How much does your 2 year old know?

My Jan born ( 2 year 3 months old) took an entrance test for preschool today and here are the questions he had
Identify and name(orally)
1. Animals
2. Fruits
3. Vegetables
4. Colours
5. Parts of the body
6. Shapes
7. Rhymes
   My lo did not perform well. He doesn't differentiate colours yet no matter how much I teach him. He talks in one or two words and not clearly and doesn't form sentences yet.
  I am worried if i have to be concerned about his not speaking well and not identifying colours
 Does your two year old speak fluently and identify the above things well?

My daughter could do animals, colors, fruits and parts of the body for sure, but vegetables would be iffy because if it's something we don't eat a lot of she wouldn't have reason to know it. I don't think we've taught her about rhyming, so she probably wouldn't do well there either. 
I wouldn't worry so much about boys and colors - my husband still can't identity colors correctly because he's majorly color blind. He remembers just thinking he was stupid when he was little because he couldn't get them right. 
As far as nursery not accepting your son - that's not a nursery you want him in! Isn't the whole point of a program like that to TEACH kids exactly these things??

My son is the oldest child and he didn't really start speaking or learning things until he was almost three. My daughter (my January baby) on the other hand is speaking in paragraphs, knows all her colors, numbers, animals ect. There is a huge difference in the two of them. but I will tell you that my son is now 7, in the first grade and does really well.

My son knows everything on that list, he can also count to 15 and spell his first name. But all kids learn at different speeds. I wouldn’t be too concerned of your doctor isn’t concerned.

Charlie can do animals and body parts. Probably a few fruits and vegetables. She is working on her colors. She pretty consistently knows pink and purple but the others are iffy.

My son cannot do colors either tho we work on it regularly, and honestly we rarely try and get him to rhyme, so I am not sure how he would do on that.  I am a big believer that kids reach these types of milestones at their own pace.  What did the school say about his performance on the “test” or whatever they call it?

My two year old knows these and talks forever but he has two older brothers. Much older!! So he likes to fit in.
My first son didn’t speak until forced to and he could just made a choice. About 3 he just started I’m with complete paragraphs.
My second son could read at 3.5-4. They have each been so different.

My daughter is completely nonverbal. She knows what we're saying and can respond with gestures and different sounds, but no actual words. She already has teachers that come to our house weekly to work with her on these things. When she turns 3, she will be enrolled in an special education early intervention program in a school setting. I'm in Minnesota if anyone was wondering.

I would say my son knows a lot of animals, fruits, body parts, and colors. I feel like he is behind in speech a bit tho he just recently started using sentences. Half the time I honestly can’t understand what he is trying to say without context. I feel like every kid learns at such a different pace at this age and they all have different interests. I wouldn’t be to concerned

My 2 year old boy could identify all of these items except Rhymes.. not sure what this is referring to specifically? He is now speaking in sentences although they are still choppy. With regard to orally identifying items he is pretty shy though, so doing this for an entrance exam I'm not sure how he would perform.... !!

My son can identify almost everything, except some veggies we don't eat often and rhymes I dont know what it is (I'm a french canadian so I don't know every english concept). With us he speek fluently but with other he's a little bit shy so if someone else would ask him to identify these thinf i'm not sure he would perform well also.
