Worth it?

Question

Not very far along in pregnancy but figured I’d get a head start. Are cloth diapers worth it? They seem like a hassle. I’m currently reading up about it but I just wanted to know if you like it and think it’s something to do.

It seems scary until after you do your first round of fit checks and laundry, then you feel great about it. Every time I hang them to dry it makes me smile I saved that much waste from the landfill and money in my pocket! I don’t even think about it being hard or different and we have been doing it one year.

Worth it! We’re breastfeeding and cloth diapering so our daughter cost us $0 dollars a month! I’m so happy we’re doing it, not a lot of work, I wash her diapers every other day, sometimes once a day. They’re small loads. Sometimes I pre-stuff but if I’m short on time I just throw them in the drawer and put them together during a change. 
I honestly love it. We’re not contributing to waste and saving loads of money! I suggest cloth diapering to everyone.

It’s so worth it especially if you want more children. One stash is good for 2 or more kids! I have some preloved one and some new and they all work the same. Its more complicated when you read than real life! Ask all the questions you may have I would love to answer them for you. Here my fluff baby

Definitely worth it in our opinion. Less waste in a landfill, save money, avoiding the chemicals in disposable diapers - yes we are doing laundry more, but we’d be doing laundry anyway and we aren’t using an excessive amount of water by adding diaper laundry. My LO is also way more comfortable, we change every 2ish hours unless she poops we change more frequently.

WORTH IT. I wanted so badly to cloth my daughter when I was pregnant with her I was just overwhelmed and intimidated, I finally just decided to take the plunge and do it when she was 6 months old and never looked back. She’s 18 months now. I’m due with a little boy in June and I will cloth from day 1 with him. No harsh chemicals on their little bum is my #1 reason! but saving money & the environmental aspect is such a huge plus. Good luck and don’t over think it :) it’s really so much less difficult than I thought.

It was so worth it for us! Saved us hundreds on diapers for our first and literally zero cost for cloth diapering our second child. I was already doing lots of laundry anyway. It was just one extra load (short wash+long wash) with our detergent we already used. Check out Fluff love university. There’s a wealth of information on their website.

I'm cloth diapering my 3rd and I love it! I wish I did it with my 1st and 2nd too. I wash diapers once or twice a week (I have a lot so I don't have to wash often).  If I have to put a disposable on my daughter like for a trip there's always some kind of poop blowout. I have never gotten a blowout in a cloth diaper. The cloth can contain so much better. Plus I have saved hundreds of dollars not having to buy disposables all the time. 
There's a learning curve at first. I will admit I was overwhelmed and trying to fit my daughter in cloth in the beginning was difficult. She was way too big for the newborn diapers but too small for the one size diapers. So there was some leaking. But she grew fast and was fitting in the one size in no time. And the brand I bought at first I hated. So I sold the newborn diapers and the other brand and bought different ones that I like so so much better and once I figured out my wash routine everything has been easy since.

I personally use the Baby Diaper Service for my cloth diapers.
They give us the prefold cloth diapers and a pail. Every week, they pick up the dirty diapers and leave fresh ones.
I was worried about not knowing how to care for the inserts, but with this option I don't have to wash anything other than the covers and the company uses environmentally and baby safe cleaning solutions.
I love cloth diapering and not creating additional waste in landfills. The covers are super cute too!

Only downside is you obviously can't easily see when the diaper is wet like disposables. Best practice is to change as often as you would for disposables, roughly every 1-3 hours.

Yep! Once you get into the swing of things it’s super easy. If you use pockets you can have them all stuffed in the time it would take you to pack up to go to the store. Super convenient, easy to wash, comfortable for baby, and environmentally friendly. And cost effective too! Yes they’re a challenge at first, but what aspect of parenting isn’t? I love them.
