Birth videos/photos no longer allowed?

Question

A local hospital in my area has just announced that there will be no more videos and/or pictures allowed during the labor and birth of children. Pictures may ONLY be taken once the baby is cleaned and placed on the mothers chest. 
I personally think that is 100% bs and so glad I’m delivering somewhere else. If I want videos and pictures why can’t I have them? 
Do you think the hospital has a right to deny women and families this? (There was no reasoning with this announcement, just stated it’s no longer allowed.

From a purely legal standpoint: 
1. You’re on private property so they can make that decision. 
2. Doctors/Nurses don’t consent to being filmed. 
3. If something happens re: malpractice.

If a hospital chooses to have it that way, they can do that. It's their right. If you (or whoever) doesn't like it, they can go somewhere else. And like the other poster said, it's mostly because they get in the way of the delivery.

i think it’s definitely their right (as commenters said because it gets in the way) but it definitely sucks. if that is very important to you, then maybe look into a different hospital. i will add, i don’t have photos of the actual birth, etc and i never think about it, or wish i had them. i only ever wish i had taken more pictures of my babes when they were tiny.

Its their rules also sorry but it protects everyone involve just because you want doesnt make it safe and could get on the way if complication do accure

My hospital doesn’t allow us to take videos or pics and if they do it has to be a camera, not your phone and whatnot.  For my 1st birth the dr was the 1st one to tell us to take pics with the phone and send my dad the pics ... so I guess it’s a legal thing, but if you “behave” you can be allowed to...

It is kind of stupid  because I understand you want to capture that moment. But I get why they place those rules in a legal stand point. When I had my c section my husband wasnt allowed to take pictures until baby was out and they handed him to us. And even then we could only take pictures of baby, my head, and my husband.

Because doctor's try to deliever a baby and people are in the way trying to get the perfect shot. Plus, you could drop your phone on the baby if you're not careful. I don't know why people want their birth on video. It's weird IMO.
