How soon can you have SEX on Mirena?

Dr. put Mirena in & the next day I felt fine, no cramping, no bleeding...so me & my boyfriend waited the 24hrs & then decided to try it out😏 I was totally ok for several hours after sex & then I went to sleep, but I was woken up by terrible cramps. I'm fine now, but now I'm apprehensive to have sex again. How long should I wait?

I work in the medical field and we insert IUCs on a daily basis. The actual instructions are to not put anything into your vagina for 3 days after insertion. But it takes 7 days total for the hormones to start working.

To be honest I didn't start feeling the cramps for a few days later. I did the same thing by having sex the next day and I was fine but I think that stimulation definitely played a part in the cramping. You'll definitely be cramping for a little bit but don't be hesitant to start having sex again. The cramps are just a side effect, sex is a bonus!😉

I was told immediately but I think I got it inserted on a Wednesday and I had sex by Friday. The cramps could be unrelated.

I had sex the same day that I got my Mirena put in and I was completely fine. But I guess it would be different for everyone.
