Didn't read correctly. I would not stay away. My dad doesn't approve of my SO but I have stuck by. Because my dad is not living my life. I am. He's part of my life and so is my SO! DO what makes you happy.

My parents flip flop between hating me and my then boyfriend now husband. Granted we're a pair of nerds who exchanged vcards, and have never been with anyone else, but my parents always saw me as a failure, and often a whore.

So for us, it worked out. And now we just see our parents on our terms only.

My mum and stepdad didn't really like my husband at first because he can be an asshole. Plain and simple he's an asshole sometimes and that's okay but they would never speak badly about him to me or anyone else because that's not their place. Their place is to support me in any choices I make in my life and they know if they don't they loose contact with me. My mum once told me to abort my son when we told them we were pregnant, we were already 12 weeks and had planned to keep him anyways, I stopped talking to her for 3 weeks till one day I slipped in the tub and started to bleed and I called them in a panic. They took us to the hospital and after that we were okay.

My mom and step-dad aren't super fond of my SO (now fiancé) and I flat out told them too bad. My mom is more civil (my step-dad has a good heart but is hot headed and stubborn lol) but I just don't take him over there when I go. The crazy thing is that it was all a misunderstanding over a beer bottle that fell out my truck one day. (His not mine, beer makes me puke. And I'm the one that drives so no worries there either.)

My mom has bee. Divorced three times but I always confide in her and I always get bad advice. She recently told me not to bring mySO or his son  OVER HER HOUSE. Because of all our relationship drama the stress he put on Me. I realize its my fault for putting her in this. I can't fix it. But even after that she texted him so I'm very confused.

Well is a hard situation I never thought my mom would disagree on me marrying my husband but she does and she talks trash about me and my husband behind my back with my sister it hurts cause she loves more my ex than my husband and no matter what he does she doesn't like him, we try to have a better relationship but she doesn't want to accept him so I just talk to her the necessary.

Well the few times my parents didn't like my boyfriend, they wound up being right about him. Thankfully they love my husband and are more likely to call him if they need help with something than my brothers, and consider him their son. My parents are wonderful though and I'm lucky to have them.

My parents have not liked a few people I dated. They kept in touch with one of my exes for years after we broke up and that really hurt me. I usually just avoided seeing or talking to my parents, I felt very alone and isolated. They seem to have come around and now they try to be supportive of any of my new relationships, regardless of whether they like the guy. It makes it much easier for me to talk to them openly and ask for their insight, and I know they are there to support me if things don't work out.

They don't really care for each other but they put things aside and deal with each other like mature adults for me. I do the same for him with his mother as well.

My mom doesn't like my husband, because it not who she wanted me to marry. We both can only tolerate her referring to my husband as "just the first" or the "trial run" so many times... Well 10 yrs together 5 yrs married and she can just deal with it, he isn't going anywhere 😊
