Newborn & 0-3 month clothing?

Question

How many newborn clothes do I really need? And how many 0-3 month? Like onesies, pants, shirts.. I have a bunch of clothes already, but I've been told I have too much, so looking for opinions from other moms and not someone who had there last child 15 years ago...

It honestly depends on the size baby you have. For me my LO was only 5lb6oz and I actually needed to go out and buy preemie clothing which he was in for a month. Once he was finally in newborn he was in that for 3 months. So for us we needed a decent amount of newborn especially since he spit up a lot. My SIL on the other hand had an 8 lbs baby and never fit in newborn and was on 6 months clothing by 2 months old.

My baby came out 9lbs 2.8oz she is currently 3 weeks and I've officially transitioned to 0-3 months since the newborn's are just a tad snug but honestly some 0-3 months are too big on her and she ends up with her feet or of the leg holes and inside the body of the sleepers.

My son was in newborn for about 3 weeks. With this one I'm waiting to see about how big he is at my next ultrasound to decide. I have some already but I buy more 0-3.

My rule of thumb more 0-3 month because the baby is in them longer than newborn size. Most babies are out of newborn clothing between 2 and 4 weeks. Some are big enough new born dont fit beyond a week. Others stay cute and petite for a few months.

Totally depends on baby. My first 2 were in newborn for about 5 weeks. So I got quite a bit for baby number 3 and he outgrew them within 2 weeks. He was actually a little to long for them to begin with, he was very tall but skinny.
