My boyfriend just doesn’t understand!😓😥

My mom died in a car accident June 6, 2017. Yesterday was court for one person that was responsible for the accident. The other person didn’t show up. The guy that did show up was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He has not even a 1 year old little girl and a wife. We will call him bob, bob was racing the car that the other guy (we will call Sam) was in. My mom was riding with sam. They reached speeds to 110 on country back roads. This older man (we will call ted), was just pulling out of his driveway and sam hit him head on. My mom died in surgery a few hours later and Ted died in the hospital. Bob ran from the scene but then later called the police to say he was there. So bob wasn’t the person that hit anyone. He was still charged with reckless homicide. And was put in jail right away! I feel so bad for this man. Since day 1 he has been very apologetic and feels really bad. The other guy sam doesn’t care. He just walks around like he’s untouchable. Sam has a very long sheet included drug dealing and stuff like that. Bob has 2 simple possession charges years ago.

I’m dealing with this alone as a 21 year old. My boyfriend doesn’t understand why I’m upset. I feel like I have ruined his life. I have been crying all day and I have a 3 year old. I am trying to not cry in front of him. I feel terrible and my boyfriend thinks I’m pathetic for caring for this guy.

Am I pathetic? I need more insight. I have no one to talk to. My mom was the only person I had. It also hurts that I had to hear the story all over again.
