Beginning of Tantrums

I'd like to remain anonymous as I dont want judgement.

My 16 month old has been steadily and increasingly needy with me. My husband is in the military so hes been gone for a month now leaving me as the "single" parent for my daughter, so obviously she would cling to me since I'm the only one around.

She does cry when she doesnt get her way or something I say "no" to. So I get that we are in the beginning tantrum stages.

But in the mornings, I feed her her breakfast first. Then I will eat mine. Lately, she has been asking me to share my food (even though i know shes had enough for breakfast) or in the case of this morning, i sit down to eat and she asks me to read to her, but also to sit on my lap while eating. I really just want to eat my own meal (I get itll never be in peace again) before it gets cold (egg/avocado toast). But shes crying and screaming cause I won't read to her. I assure her that I'll read after (idk if she even understands). But I decide to ignore her cause I am at wits end and just want to eat.

Is this a terrible thing to do? Should I ignore in this instance? Or is there some other thing I need to be doing?

Thanks for any and all advice.
