One name much more popular?

Would it be weird to have two girls, one with a much more common name? We have a Gemma (my pick) and my husband thinks he’d like Lily for the next. I love the name, but it’s so much more common than Gemma. Probably doesn’t matter, but I’m partial to less common names after being the 4th Katie in my elementary class...

I don’t think they’re bad together. Gemma isn’t super rare are “out there” so Lily would be fine :)

Gemma is actually a pretty popular name in the UK. I also know 3 Gemma’s in the states. I think Gemma and Lily would be fine.

I agree that it’s more common, but I really don’t think it matters. Names also flucate and change too. I also don’t think it’s super common either. I think if you both love it, that’s all that matters. But I get it, I love the less common names too.

Thank you! You’re all making me feel better :) by the numbers, Lily is like 30th vs Gemma at around 205th. For total births there are about 5x more Lily’s. And so while I’d prefer a more unusual name, is Gemma going to be bummed if her sister can always find a personalized keychain and she never can?? 
I agree that they sound really pretty together tho!! So it’s definitely on the table :)

I don’t anyone by either name in real life so I think it’s fine. Love them both
