Has this happened to anyone?

I had the Paragard (non hormonal) IUD for about three years - I had it removed about a month ago because my husband and I want to start trying to get pregnant. Three days after the removal, I started getting hives - first just a little, but over the last several weeks, it has persisted and worsened  until my tongue swelled up one night and I had to go to the ER. I am on Benadryl and a slew of other allergy drugs but I'm still having hives. We are obviously holding off on trying for a baby until this is solved but my doctors have brushed off my questions of whether it could have anything to do with the IUD coming out. Has anyone had this problem or heard of anyone having this issue? I have never had food allergies or even seasonal allergies and I am at a loss!
