What should the name of the lake be?

Here in Minnesota there’s been some light controversy around the name of one of our lakes: Lake Calhoun/Bde Maka Ska.
Some history:

A few years ago it was decided to change the name back to its original name of Bde Maka Ska due to Calhoun being a pro-slavery politician. Now there is controversy to change it back to Lake Calhoun because people are having issues pronouncing it.

What do you think? Should the name be changed back to Lake Calhoun or stay Bde Maka Ska? Do you think having issues pronouncing the name is reason enough to change it back to a name that honors a pro-slavery politician? Should it be a combined name including both the original and the new name? Is calling it Lake Calhoun supporting slavery? Should we just pick a new name all together?

I think if they’re gonna change it, under the “guise” of not being able to pronounce it. They can at least just change it to the actual English meaning of the ORIGINAL NAME OF THE LAKE

“Lake white earth”

They should either change it to the English meaning, Lake White Earth/Bank, or just add a pronunciation under the signs for the lake to help people pronounce it. Anything but change the name to Calhoun. People need to get over themselves and learn a bit more about other cultures and learn to pronounce things, instead of seeing it as inconvenient.

This is the name of a lake near where I grew up. It should stay the Native American name. People will learn to pronounce it.

I’d say Lake Medoza, Lake White Earth, or adding how to pronounce the original name on the sign are all good options. I’m decidedly against renaming it Lake Calhoun.

Who cares if we was for slavery? So many other famous well known people were also and no one cares about that. Also, oh no, they are having trouble pronouncing.
My logic: whatever?  Don’t change it because it is their original name and respects their culture. However, if it does change, it’s not supporting slavery. How did people even get that opinion?

I live in Minneapolis and when they changed the name, you know what I did? I googled the pronunciation. Problem solved. People just like to complain when something isn’t English or white
